When preparing to begin a counted cross stitch project it is important to have the necessary accessories. These are my recommendations:
1 – High quality embroidery scissors. Make sure they are small and sharp.
2 – Plenty of blunt needles. These rounded tips go through the fabric easily and won’t pick up extra threads. I use one needle for each color of thread.
3-Sort out all the floss you will need
4 - Hoops or frames that fit the project. They come in many sizes so it’s not hard to find the right one. Always take the project out of the hoop when finished with the days work. If working with a scroll frame it’s perfectly OK to leave your work on the frame as it won’t stretch the fabric as long as the tension is released.
5- If you have sensitive fingers be sure to have a thimble. When I need one I prefer a metal one.
These are the basics that every stitcher needs. A nice sewing basket or plastic box is a great way of keeping everything organized.
Happy Stitching!
